Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to identify the requirement and specification for explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can interpret accurately the customer’s performance parameters. Agreeing with your customer and other stakeholders the requirements and specifications that provide an acceptable balance in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves
Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes
people working as procurement managers.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 interpret accurately the customer’s performance parameters
P3 confirm the absence of inconsistencies or anomalies in the information
P4 specify relevant constraints
P5 identify the scope for and nature of possible compromise
P6 agree with your customer and other stakeholders the requirements and specifications that provide an acceptable balance
P7 define explosives requirements and specifications that meet the customer requirements
P8 define explosive logistics requirements that meet the customer requirements
P9 obtain approvals relevant to the requirement and specification for explosive substances and/or articles
P10 maintain the requirements of confidentiality at all times

Knowledge and Understanding

K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work
