Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to audit the effectiveness of configuration activities for explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can confirm the fitness for purpose of the configured explosive substance or article, by ensuring that appropriate checks are carried out against the configuration criteria in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as maintenance and manufacturing managers and maintenance supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm the fitness for purpose of the configured explosive substance or article, by ensuring that appropriate checks are carried out against the configuration criteria
P3 gather, analyse and evaluate current and reliable information
P4 ensure that your audit highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the configuration activities
P5 make suggestions for improvement that are realistic, and which indicate the benefits that might be achieved
P6 present suggestions for improvements in accordance with organizational procedures
P7 ensure that all relevant master documentation has been correctly updated
P8 maintain the requirements of confidentiality at all times
P9 comply with the appropriate quality standards

Knowledge and Understanding
