Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to carry out post-trial or posttest tasks relating to explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can confirm that your test or trial objectives have been met and take follow up action allocating tasks appropriately in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as test and evaluation supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guideline
P2 confirm that your test or trial objectives have been met and take follow up action
P3 allocate tasks appropriately
P4 allocate the equipment, consumables and services needed to complete post-trial or post-test tasks
P5 ensure that the equipment is maintained in accordance with your organization’s procedures
P6 ensure that the work environment has been remediated
P7 ensure that explosive substance and/or article residues and products have been disposed of correctly
P8 ensure that the arrangements for recovery have been carried out in accordance with your organization’s procedures and the trial or test plan
P9 write the post-trial or post-test report in accordance with your organization’s procedures

Knowledge and Understanding

K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations, safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work
K2 the relevance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
K3 the nature, characteristics, hazards and risks of the explosive substance
K4 the actions to be taken in response to an unplanned event
K5 the trial or test plan and procedure(s)
K6 how to confirm that the trial or test objectives have been met
K7 the actions you should take if the trial or test objectives have not been met
K8 the roles and responsibilities of team members
K9 the importance of completing post-trial or post- test tasks
K10 the purpose and format of the trial or test report
K11 the procedures for disposing of explosive substance and/or article residues and products and any associated restrictions
