Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to define the boundaries of the area to be searched for munitions in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can liaise effectively with relevant agencies and other interested parties, carrying out further research and activities to fill gaps in the information or to refine further your understanding of the problem in accordance with approved procedures.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as munitions clearance supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with relevant health and safety, environmental and other regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 verify the information you receive
P3 liaise effectively with relevant agencies and other interested parties
P4 carry out further research and activities to fill gaps in the information or to refine further your understanding of the problem
P5 carry out an initial threat assessment
P6 assess accurately whether the task is within your capabilities and refer it to the appropriate authority or agency if it is not
P7 categorize and allocate a priority for the area to be searched according to agreed criteria
P8 ensure that your definition meets operational requirements and organizational procedures
P9 communicate the definition of the area to be searched clearly and in the appropriate format
P10 identify and describe the local environment, ingress and egress and potential secondary hazards

Knowledge and Understanding
