Overview

This standard comprises the following elements:

1 Determine whether to move munitions.
2 Supervise the movement and transportation of munitions.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as munition clearance supervisors.

Performance Criteria

1 Determine whether to move munitions
P1 work safely at all times, complying with relevant health and safety, environmental and other regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 determine whether it is desirable to move the munition
P3 ensure that your decision as to whether or not to move the munition is based upon:
P3.1 the status of the munition
P3.2 operational expediency
P3.3 an assessment of secondary hazards
P3.4 the practicality of transporting the munition
P3.5 an assessment of the risks to the local environs

1 Determine whether to move munitions
K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures and their implications for your area of work
K2 the relevance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
K3 the actions to be taken in response to an unplanned event
K4 the nature of the risk posed by moving the munition
K5 the nature of the risk posed by secondary hazards
K6 why it might be desirable to move the munition
K7 what constitutes suitable transport

Different methods of moving munitions:
remotely; manually
