Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to dispose of explosive substances and/or articles by non-complex deflagration procedures in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can ensure that you, and those under your control, carry out the disposal procedure and the plan correctly, checking that all preparatory work and all safety precautions have been carried out in accordance with approved procedures.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as disposal supervisors.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 ensure that you and those under your control, carry out the disposal procedure and the plan correctly
P3 check that all preparatory work and all safety precautions have been carried out
P4 ensure that the deflagration equipment continues to work correctly throughout the task
P5 ensure that any stored energy or substances are released safely and correctly
P6 take suitable precautions to prevent unintended release during the process
P7 segregate and dispose of the process residues and products, in accordance with approved procedures
P8 maintain documentation in accordance with organizational procedures
