Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to conduct decommissioning tasks on explosives facility in accordance with approved procedures and practices.

You will be required to demonstrate that you can confirm that competent people are carrying out the decommissioning tasks, confirming that the appropriate tools and equipment needed to carry out the decommissioning tasks are used accordance with approved procedures.

This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as manufacturing, maintenance and storage managers.

Performance Criteria

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations and guidelines
P2 confirm that you have the correct explosives decommissioning plan
P3 confirm that competent people are carrying out the decommissioning tasks
P4 confirm that the appropriate tools and equipment needed to carry out the decommissioning tasks are used
P5 ensure that all contaminants and hazards have been identified and removed
P6 ensure that the explosives decommissioning plan is implemented correctly
P7 report on the decommissioning tasks carried out and the findings
P8 recommend or take appropriate remedial action in the event of problems within the limits of your authority
P9 maintain appropriate records in accordance with your organization’s procedures

Knowledge and Understanding
