This standard covers the competences you need to implement the routine removal of explosive substances and/or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can follow the relevant maintenance procedures to carry out the required removal work. Reporting any instances where the removal activities cannot be fully met or where there are identified faults outside the planned task in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as maintenance operators.
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and otherrelevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 follow the relevant maintenance procedures to carry out the required removal work
P3 ensure that the tools used are fit for purpose
P4 carry out the removal activities, in the specified sequence and in an agreed time scale
P5 take suitable precautions to prevent damage to components, tools and equipment during removal
P6 report any instances where the removal activities cannot be fully met or where there are identified faults outside the planned task
P7 check the condition of the removed components, and record those that require replacement
P8 label, store or discard the removed components, in accordance with approved procedures
P9 complete the relevant maintenance records accurately, and pass them on to the appropriate person
P10 dispose of waste materials in accordance with safe working practices and approved procedures
P11 maintain the requirements of confidentiality at all times
P12 comply with the appropriate quality standards
