ISSEE has some of the best facilities for delivering Security and Exploisves courses. Most security and Counter Terrorist scenarios can be simulated and managed in the 55 acres which includes hard-standing, grass and woodlands, search houses, railway carriage, buses and cars.
The Search Centre makes flexible use of the bays which replicate rooms such as office, kitchen, living areas, bathroom and attic. These are used for Search and IEDD training. The sand pit is used for EOD Clearance practical exercises and Humanitarian Demining training.
Making a superb backdrop for any search operation, ISSEE can provide a number of small and medium-sized derelict buildings, most of which have been dormant for the past 10 years and each of which has suitably wild surroundings, adding a useful element of difficulty to any search or security training task.
Chilmark historically provided one of the major sources of munitions storage and processing in the UK and had its own rail spur onto the Exeter - Waterloo railway. The spur and track have long since gone but the covered platforms and associated infrastructure are largely still in situ and there is a very useful large area of hardstanding there.
ISSEE has a number of other hardstanding which suit a variety of purposes including:
- Close Protection (CP) training
- Driver training
- Motorcycle Rider training
- Public Order training
