IED Training
ISSEE offers students from military, police and civil agencies the opportunity to study for qualifications in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Until the formation of ISSEE, this subject matter was only available through military training schools and even then, without academic qualification.
Our students go on to perform a variety of different roles from Humanitarian Demining through to Counter-Terrorist Bomb Disposal Officers and from Environmental Services teams through to Explosives Magazine Personnel and government scientists.
Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) Awareness Day
2010 dates: 2 September, 28 October
2011 dates: 20 January, 7 April, 2 June, 1 September, 27 October
This 1 day is intended to riase students' awareness of IEDs, their components, effects and associated hazards, and to be able to assess effective cordon and evacuation distances necessary to ensure the safety of others. This course is accredited by ISSEE.

The day will be presented in a number of lectures and a live explosives demonstration. Some handling of live explosive stores may be involved.

This will be presented in English, and delegates must be proficient in English Language.

Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal (IEDD) Technician

This 15 day intensive course has been designed to provide the requisite skills to participants who are responsible for the safe disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices. Graduation from this course may be used by National organisations as a basis for the issuing of licences as qualified Technicians, however we recommend that this license should be reviewed periodically either at the school in the UK or at the students home location. on completion of this course the student will be able to carry out the reconnaissance and rendeer safe of IEDs. This course is accredited by City and Guilds of London Institute and provides an academic recognition.

Booby Trap Course

This 10 day course is designed to prepare students to be able to identify and deal with Booby-Traps and to carry out the necessary first response to ensure the safety of others. This course is accredited by City and Guilds of London Institute and provides an academic recognition for military personnel, Special Forces and police officers who have conducted practical operations during their careers.

CBRN IEDD Course

This 15 day course is to prepare students in the theory of Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) materials, introduce them to CBRN equipment and practice them in the render safe procedure options in dealing with a simple device. This is a basic course and can be used by National organisations as a basis for the issuing of licences to qualified Technicians, however we recommend that this licence should be renewed every 6 months either at the school in the UK or at the students home location. On completion of this course the student will be able to carry out safe reconnaissance and to conduct simple render safe procedures on CBRN/IEDs.

This 10 day course is to update the student in the skills required to operate in a competent manner when disposing of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Weapons Intelligence Team Training / Joint IED Exploitation

This 15 day course is to provide the student with the knowledge required to work as part of a team in order to conduct post blast scene examination, to recover evidence from a scene, working to multi-agency working practices and to use the information to provide analysis of current terrorist/insurgent methodology.
To ensure that the client has a robust capability to conduct Level 1 Weapons Intelligence Team tasks as a component of counter insurgency / C-IED operations and to support the overall protection of deployed forces and the civilian population. This capability will assist in defeating or countering IEDs used by insurgents, which translates into a reduction in casualties and collateral damage.
This course is accredited by City and Guilds of London Institute and provices an academic recognition for military personnel, Special Forces and police officers.

This 3 day course is to instruct the student in the safe deployment of Remotely Operated Vehicles as a remote option during Render Safe Procedures, and to conduct Explosive Ordnance Reconnaissance (EOR).

PRE ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
It is recommended that the student should have received training in Improvised Explosive Device (IED) awareness and weapons and explosives safety and handling.
CONTENT
* The capabilities and limitations of ROV.
* Safe and competent driving, handling and operation of the ROV.
* Maintenance, fault finding and user repair procedures for the ROV.
* Safety, loading and firing procedures for EOD Disruptors on the ROV.
This course has been designed along proven lines. Students are assessed by written examination and practical assessment. Assessment on the use of the ROV, associated equipment and procedures is based on the organisational policy used by candidates during the conduct of their duties and operations. The programme can be modified to suit a particular requirement, if necessary. Depending on the examination results achieved, and practical evaluation, candidates will be awarded ISSEE certification.
