Recognition of Firearms and Explosives (RFX) Awareness Day or 2 Day course for CAA.

Misuse of Explosives or Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) are becoming a regular feature of daily living in many parts of the world for all personnel employed in the Security Sector and Emergency Services.

THE COURSE

The 1 day awareness course is designed to raise the awareness levels of Explosives & IEDs and their effects and provides guidance for setting up cordons, understanding evacuation distances and liaison with Emergency Services to ensure the safety of others. The course includes a live explosives demonstration.

The 2 day course is designed to meet the requirements of the CAA RFX course and includes he recognition of firearms and components as well as explosives.  The course is also recommended for Emergency Services workers who may be called to incidents where firearms or explosives are found or suspected and where they need to have a greater understanding of the role of other services.  It will also introduce Post Blast procedures and forensics.

COURSE CONTENT

The course(s) are presented as a series of lectures, practical activity and all include a live explosives / firearms demonstration as appropriate. The lectures address:

  • Different sources and types of explosives
  • Improvised Explosive Devices and their component parts
  • Recommended cordon and evacuation distances
  • Explosive effects and hazards

COURSE OUTCOMES

On satisfactory completion of the course, the individual will have a basic understanding of the power of explosives, IEDs and their potential for harm and the immediate actions required to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

The individual will receive an ISSEE Certificate of Attendance.

COURSE OPTIONS

This course is available publically but delegates should be able to demonstrate accreditation to a recognized security organization or the Emergency Services. If required, its scope and content can be customized and made appropriate for the existing experience and previous training of the nominated delegates and for the specific activities of the organization.
